Drone and model aircraft operations in the Soběslav ATZ

LKSO is a public domestic airfield with active flight operations. Operations of unmanned aircraft, drones and model aircraft in its vicinity are subject to aviation regulations and require coordination with the airfield operator.

Aerodrome Traffic Zone (ATZ)

The Soběslav ATZ is defined:

  • horizontally by a circle with a radius of 3 NM (5.5 km) around the aerodrome reference point,
  • vertically from the ground up to 4,000 ft (1,200 m) AMSL.

Conditions for operating in the ATZ

  • Drone and model aircraft operations in the ATZ are only allowed if the airfield operator's conditions are met.
  • Every flight must be coordinated in advance with the aerodrome flight information service (AFIS), or directly with the airfield operator if this service is not provided.
  • Follow the rules set by the Czech CAA and EU regulation 2019/947. UAS operator registration is mandatory.
  • Detailed conditions for ATZ operations are laid down in para. 7.1 b), Appendix X, of the Czech regulation L 2 – Rules of the Air (in Czech).

Model flying area

Persons who have signed a coordination agreement with the airfield operator may use the model flying area at the threshold of RWY 08.

If you plan to fly a drone or model aircraft near the airfield, contact us well in advance by phone or email. Let us know the planned time, location and purpose of the flight.
