Ultralight Pilot Training (ULL)
Aeroclub Soběslav flight school currently provides ultralight pilot training on the modern Tecnam P-92 Echo Super and advanced training on the WT-9 Dynamic.
Ultralight aircraft (ULL) represent the most affordable entry into powered flight. In the Czech Republic, they are regulated by the Light Aircraft Association (LAA ČR). Modern ultralights achieve cruise speeds over 200 km/h and ranges over 1,000 km – matching many certified aircraft at a fraction of the cost.
Requirements
- Medical: Health certificate from an authorized doctor. Glasses are not an obstacle. Valid for 2 years.
- Age: Training from 15 years, solo flights and license from 16 years. Written parental consent required for those under 18.
- Training: Minimum 20 flight hours, 21 hours of theory.
- Cost: Approximately 50,000 CZK (about 2,000 EUR), plus landing fees and administrative fees.
Training process
Training takes place at Aeroclub Soběslav airfield, mainly on weekends but also possible on weekdays by arrangement. The syllabus covers basic manoeuvres, takeoffs, landings, emergency procedures, and cross-country navigation flights.
Training aircraft
Primary training is conducted on the P-92 Echo Super (OK-RUU 21) by Italian manufacturer Tecnam. Advanced training and cross-country flights are on the WT-9 Dynamic (OK-MUU 40) by Slovak manufacturer Aerospool.
